ABOUT ME
My name is Sakshi Gera, and I am a Girl Scout in Troop 30859 of Westborough, Massachusetts. I am a fourth degree junior black belt in karate, and I have been doing karate since the seventh grade. Many times, being one of the older students at the studio, I lead the class in exercises and stretches. I also was a student teacher over the summer at the karate studio, teaching kids between ages 4-9. With this experience, I wanted to put together a free class that met once or twice a month at the library to introduce kids to karate.
About My Gold Award Project
As a Senior Girl Scout, the highest level of achievement I can earn is the Gold Award. This award is earned by, in a way, making an impact in society. My Gold Award project identifies the issue of self defense. I believe that self-defense is important to have at any age. I want to address this issue in our community by offering free monthly self defense classes at the Westborough Public Library and educate our community on self-defense.
